Day 7: Write about the top search engine keywords that bring people to your blog

This is something I was wondering about myself...
I have submitted my blog to a lot of search engines. I have shared it on my Facebook. I'm not really sure what else I am supposed to do...
If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them!
Other than that, search for The Pink Sequin Boutique. I hope I can be found from that. I think it takes a bit of time as well.

Day 5: Post an old picture and some commentary

One time when I was 18, I was a little rebellious and dyed a chunk of hair pink. I also went to 80′s night at a club and my friend happened to take this picture at the perfect moment.
This picture is really old, but about 5 years old. That makes me feel so old.

Day 4: 10 things you can’t do anymore

  1. Date (not that I want to)
  2. Wear children sized shoes. (They are always cuter than adult shoes)
  3. Do my hair in crazy styles. In Jr. High, I wore my hair different everyday for a month.
  4. Draw. I think its just because I haven’t really done it for a while, but its definitely not the same.
  5. Pick my nose and offer it to someone saying, “want some salad?”. Yes, I really did that when I was very young.
  6. Play at a Play Place at fast food restaurants. They don’t have the ball pits anymore so I guess I’m not missing out too much.
  7. Write notes to my friends during class. I don’t currently have a class, but texting ruined everything.
  8. Stick my whole fist in my mouth. I just tried it; I can’t anymore.
  9. Get my braces tightened. That was the worst.
  10. Play a few chords on the guitar. That’s depressing, I still want to learn.
That was very difficult for me…

Day 3: Write about some of the teachers you had growing up and why you did/did not like them

Hmm…

I’ll talk about my dear Susie.

I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So, growing up I had a youth leader named Susie. She was and still is an amazing role model. On Sundays, when she would teach our lesson, she would have beautiful displays and visuals for what the lesson was about, and gorgeous floral arrangements. She truly has an eye for beauty as well as a green thumb. She is pretty quiet at first, but as I got to know her, I found out how funny and loveable she is. She has a strong love of the gospel that I have always admired. She is incredibly kind hearted and giving.

Each Wednesday after our youth activities, Susie would take the “Homies” to the local gas station where we would hand out and have treats. We were able to talk about anything and everything. Susie is an amazing listener and gives amazing advice. I knew she couldn’t fix my problems, but I always knew she loved me and cared about me.

Now, as an adult, in my own home, I am a youth leader at my church. I pray that I can be at least the smallest bit like Susie.

Heart and Soul
One year for  my birthday she gave me this figurine.  It is so precious to me.  The description on the website says, “Open hearts, sharing souls, trusted friends”. That is exactly how I feel about my amazing friend and teacher, Susie.

Day 2: Share your favorite recipe

I LOVE to cook and bake so, this question is difficult for me…

Right now I would love to make the Pioneer Woman’s Petite Vanilla Scones.  They are amazing. Its her interpretation of the kind that is sold at Starbucks.

Recipe: Petite Vanilla Bean Scones

Prep Time: 20 Minutes  |  Cook Time: 20 Minutes  |  Difficulty: Easy  |  Servings: 12

Ingredients

  • SCONES
  • 3 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2/3 cups Sugar
  • 5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 sticks (1/2 Pound) UNSALTED Butter, Chilled
  • 1 whole Large Egg
  • 3/4 cups Heavy Cream (more If Needed)
  • 2 whole Vanilla Beans
  • GLAZE
  • 5 cups Powdered Sugar, Sifted
  • 1/2 cup Whole Milk, More If Needed For Thinning
  • 1 whole Vanilla Bean
  • Dash Of Salt

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Split the vanilla beans down the middle lengthwise and scrape out all the vanilla “caviar” inside. Stir caviar into cream. Set aside for 15 minutes.
Sift together flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut cold butter into pats, then use a pastry cutter or two knives to cut the butter into the flour. Keep going until mixture resembles crumbs.
Mix vanilla cream with egg, then combine with flour mixture; stir gently with a fork just until it comes together.
Turn dough onto a floured surface and lightly press it together until it forms a rough rectangle. (Mixture will be pretty crumbly.) Use a rolling pin to roll into a rectangle about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch thick. Use your hands to help with the forming if necessary.
Use a knife to trim into a symmetrical rectangle, then cut the rectangle into 12 symmetrical squares/rectangles. Next, cut each square/rectangle in half diagonally, to form two triangles.
Transfer to a parchment or baking mat-lined cookie sheet and bake for 18 minutes, removing from the oven just before they start to turn golden. Allow to cool for 15 minutes on the cookie sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
VANILLA GLAZE
To make the icing, split one vanilla bean in half lengthwise and scrape out the caviar. Stir caviar into milk; allow to sit for awhile. Mix powdered sugar with the vanilla milk, adding more powdered sugar or milk if necessary to get the consistency the right thickness. Stir or whisk until completely smooth.
One at a time, carefully dunk each cooled scone in the glaze, turning it over if necessary. Transfer to parchment paper or the cooling rack. Allow the glaze to set completely, about an hour. Scones will keep several days if glazed.

Day 1: letter to self

Dear Amber,

I have so many hopes and dreams for you. So many good things ahead and you need to be ready.  You have great worth that should be shared with others.
Don’t dwell on things you can’t change and make you upset. You can be as happy as you let yourself be.
Go out and succeed! Nothing is holding you back. The sky is the limit.
Always remember to be true to you. Your ideas and feelings matter and the people who matter will support you.
Fly little bird and be free!

Love always,
